We have an immediate opening for a Journeyman Lineman at our Aurora, Colorado office.

The Journeyman Lineman has completed the apprentice level of training and experience and is fully qualified to work on energized primary and secondary electrical transmission and distribution lines, related facilities and equipment; and under general supervision performs highly skilled work in the installation, maintenance and repair of the municipal electrical utility overhead and underground distribution and transmission system.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Journeymen Lineman:  Four (4) or more years of progressive electric utility line experience
  • Perform construction, maintenance, and repairs on the electrical overhead and underground distribution and transmission system 
  • Operate, inspect, and maintain aerial devices, digger/derricks, excavation equipment, and other electric line related equipment
  • Climb poles with climbing hooks and belt, troubleshoot underground and overhead distribution systems, set transformers and pull underground primary and secondary conductors
  • Complete reports, documentation, and mapping information
  • Assist Foreman in training Apprentice Lineman and perform other related duties as assigned
  • Must be able to respond within an hour to the Utility Service Center when on-call.  Available for 24-hour on-call and emergency response.  
  • Must participate as needed in working overtime on evenings and weekends.  
  • Ability to progress through skill plan program within specified period of time as defined per department’s skill plan policy.  

Must be dependable, and willing and able to perform physically demanding work in the elements.  Some of the physical demands are:

  • Must be able to lift and carry on a frequent basis, up to 50-90 pounds on a daily and continual basis.
  • Ability to drive on a stop and start basis daily and continually.
  • Lifting, placing of materials, standing, walking, turning, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, crouching, speaking and hearing are required continuously.
  • Close vision is required for some functions and distance and peripheral vision is required for safety.


Q3 Contracting is a drug-free environment.  This position requires compliance with the Q3 Contracting, Inc. and Federal Department of Transportation (FMSCA or PHMSA) drug testing policies and procedures for both pre-employment and continuing random.
